Owain Fôn Williams was born and raised in Dyffryn Nantlle, North West Wales. He is currently a professional goalkeeper with Scottish Premier Football league side Inverness Caledonian Thistle, a full Welsh international and part of the Wales international squad who reached the semi-finals of Euro 2016 in France.

At the age of 16, to pursue his childhood dream of becoming a goalkeeper, Owain left the fond surroundings of Dyffryn Nantlle and signed his first professional contract with Crewe Alexandra.

At the age of 21 he left Crewe to pursue first team football opportunities with Stockport County where he became the clubs number 1 and made 82 senior appearances. He also spent successful loan spells at Bury and Rochdale. Owain spent 4 seasons with Tranmere Rovers making 161 senior appearances.  He has also won numerous Wales Under 17,19 and 21 caps.

The physical and mental strains of being a professional football goalkeeper has brought Owain closer to his passion for painting, in his own words, it is “ isolation and relaxation” from the demands of everyday life.

Having moved away from home at the age of 16, art has also allowed Owain to connect with the bond that he has for the people, environment, history, and culture of Dyffryn Nantlle and Wales.

He gains inspiration from the sense of belonging; to the generations of his family that worked in the hardship of the slate quarries, the bond of brotherhood, the natural and living environment where he grew up and his pride in Welsh national identity.

For the future, Owain hopes for success on and off the pitch. Between the sticks his aim is to succeed at Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Wales
